Enemies

Enemies are a staple within game and sometimes are the entire purpose a game exists; to kill numerous enemies and to gain points. however in adventure games they are used as a distraction and a nuisance, in order to advance onward they pose a threat and the player must either defeat them or simply leave them be. within games like Links Awakening the enemies normally are there to pose a small threat to Link as he traverses the map, some however are stronger than others and have more abilities. for example the Octorok pictured to the right fires a projectile from its mouth giving it more of a challenging encounter than ones such as the spiked balls which don't move and have to be moved out of the way. Enemies can however be people rather than monsters. In Pokemon Gold and Silver the enemy humans are simply sprites reused over and over through the map. these enemies simply wait in the overworld until the player is in sight and walk forward to attack. Colours

Colours are a major theme in anything in life - the bright blue sky with white clouds on them works to make the daily sky seem upbeat and joyous. while the bright blue sky with dark black clouds on it are seen as unappealing and glum. this is where colour balance comes into play. colours have to blend with each other and be distinct from one another in order to not clash. the colour wheel displays colours (durr) and what colours are created upon mixing other colours. for example dark blue mixed with violet makes a purpley colour. this colour wheel would allow users who design stuff for games or simply designing clothes to choose which colours suit what and why. theres such things as cool and warm colours with the redder colours being classed as the warmer one and the bluer ones being the cooler ones. warm and cool colours are colours which can be used to portray a sense of feeling into something - for example wearing a red colour in a cold enviroment would give the sense of warmth...

Initial ideas

Retro Gameboy colour games: Games such as Links Awakening use tiles in order to create the environment. The overarching game itself in this case involve the player walking around environments collecting items and exploring dungeons. using the tiles to build the screens and then using assets to the put alongside these tiles to add more depth into the game. Links awakening is also one of those games where the story isnt all there the moment you boot up the game as the player has to uncover it either via dialogue or via reading up about it in game. the open world of this game is stunningly put together not allowing you to get too far without a certain object yet allowing you to have free reign of the world around you without feeling constricted in any way. the game has a very simple inventory system in which stores a small amount of objects to be used within the game.
